In a recent survey conducted by the National Board of Examination, it was found people who went abroad to pursue a MBBS degree couldn't qualify the exam needed to practice in India.

According to the data of over 7 years, it was found that only an average of 20% students qualified for the exam that is mandated by the Medical Council of India.

The NBE , twice every year conducts an exam called the Foreign Medical Graduate Exam, or the FMGE for short, for students who hold Medical degrees from countries like China, Bangalore, Russia, Ukraine, Nepal and Kazakhstan. This exam however doesn't apply for students who have graduated with a medical degree from the USA, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

The report showed that an average of 13,000 appear for the FMGE and it isn't only Fresh graduates who return to India but also others who have been trying to Crack this hard screening test.

Graduates have to deal with the fact that they, hierarchically don't have much of a meritorious case when they come back because of them not having gotten one of the few sought out Medical seats in the country to begin with.

The abysmal passing average has also resorted graduates to take work in parallel professions or practicing without a registered license. There is still a trend of people continuing to appear for the exam for upto 3 years.

Further the current Modi government introduced the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test that mandates that embassies around the world shall only give admission to students who have scored at least 119. This makes it further difficult for students who want to go abroad to study MBBS.
